A Cor do Som
Lined-up by the late 1970s by musicians that had played with Novos Baianos (Dadi, on the bass and guitar; Armandinho on the guitar and mandolin; Mu on the keyboards; Gustavo on drums, Ary Dias on percussion and Pepeu Didi on the bass), the group used to make a fusion of northeastern beats and rock. Their first album, "A Cor do Som" (1977) granted them an invitation to play the Montreux festival in 1978, and the performance was turned into a live album. Firstly an instrumental combo, the band became successful in 1979, with tunes with vocals, such as "Beleza Pura" (Caetano Veloso). In the 80s, their albums would present assorted music styles, such as jazz, rock, reggae, choro and samba.
