Alceu Valença
01/07/1946
Alceu was born in Pernambuco and grew up listening to local music. In the 50s, his family moved to the capital, Recife. Valença played the music festivals in the late 60s. He graduated in Law in 1970, but only embraced the profession for a few months. He made his first album in 1972, getting more visibility when he performed "Vou Danado Pra Catende" in a 1975 festival, but he would only go national in 1980, with the songs "Tropicana" and "Coração Bobo". Alceu is a pioneering composer in terms of blending northeastern rhythms, pop and rock, and has already released over 20 albums. The eclectic singer/songwriter has played the Montreaux Jazz Festival (Switzerland) and Rock In Rio II, right after The Artist Formerly Known As Prince. In the 90s, he enjoyed success with songs like "La Belle De Jour" and "Tesoura do Desejo". Some of his other hits are "Talismã" (written with Geraldo Azevedo), "Papagaio do Futuro", "Como Dois Animais", "Cavalo de Pau", "Na Primeira Manhã" "Anunciação".
