Antonio Nóbrega

Born in Recife (capital of Pernambuco, Northeastern Brazil), Nóbrega studied the violin and coached his voice with renowned teachers. In the 70s, he was a member of the Quinteto Armorial, with whom he made four albums and toured worldwide promoting the traditional music from Northeastern Brazil. In 1976, Nóbrega began conceiving his solo shows which included dancing, theater and music. As a researcher of Brazilian music and dances, he settled in São Paulo in 1983. After being awarded abroad, his work became known in Brazil in the 90s. By the end of the decade, he released the CDs "Na Pancada do Ganzá" and "Madeira Que Cupim Não Rói". Nóbrega runs the Escola e Teatro Brincante, a culture school that promotes events and courses on dance, music and circus techniques.
