Beto Guedes
13/08/1951
Born in Minas Gerais (Southeast Brazil), Beto Guedes was playing with bands throughout his teen years; at age 18, he participated in the V International Music Festival with "Feira Moderna", co-written with Fernando Brant. Being mainly influenced by the music from Minas (besides 60’s rock and his father’s choros – instrumental, fast sambas), Guedes was an active member of the Clube da Esquina (Club on the Corner), a musical movement that gave national projection to Milton Nascimento, Lô Borges, Fernando Brant and himself. He often shared the staged with progressive rock band 14 Bis and released his first LP, "A Página do Relâmpago Elétrico", in 1977. In the following year, the album "Amor de Índio" featured the title track as the greatest hit in his career, which he keeps going to this day. Guedes’ albums were released on CD format by EMI in 1997. In 1998 he recorded "Dias de Paz", reviewing his own material and adding new songs.
