Boca Livre

The vocal group lined-up by Mauricio Maestro, Zé Renato, Cláudio Nucci and David Tygel in 1978 was very successful in the late 70s and in the 80s, with their careful arrangements and soft instrumental backgrounds. They released their first and independent album, "Boca Livre", in 1979, achieving huge visibility and turning the market upside down. Some of their greatest hits are "Mistérios" (Joyce/ Maestro), "Toada" (Zé Renato/ Claudio Nucci/ Juca) and "Quem Tem a Viola" (Juca/ Zé Renato/ Xico Chaves/ C. Nucci). They have released albums outside of Brazil and the members have released solo albums. In the 1990s, Nucci and Tygel left the group, being replaced by Fernando Gama and Lourenço Baeta. The first album with the new line-up, "Songaboca", came ut on Velas in 1994. In 2000, Zé Renato left the group and Cláudio Nucci returned.
