Claudette Soares

Soares started out on the radio in the 1940s. She became notorious for singing the baião, being dubbed Princesinha do Baião (Baião Princess). She worked as a crooner and recorded tracks on Brazilian music compilations in the 1960s. Her debut solo album, "Claudette É Dona da Bossa", came out in 1964 featuring bossa nova songs. She made other albums and worked on the theater and on the television. Some of her major hits are "Januária" (Chico Buarque), "Como É Grande o Meu Amor por Você" (Roberto e Erasmo Carlos) and "Frevo Rasgado" (Gilberto Gil). Claudette released the CD "Vida Real" in 1995.
