Cólera
The pioneering Brazilian punk rock group was formed in São Paulo in 1979 by brothers Redson (Edson Lopes Pozzi, guitar and vocals) and Pierre (Carlos Lopes Pozzi, drums) and their friend Val (Valdemir Pinheiro, bass). They participated in the milestone Brazilian punk compilation Grito Suburbano (1982) and soon became known for their pacifist, anti-army and echologic posture. Two compilations later – "Sub" and "O começo do Fim do Mundo" (live), both from 1983 – they would make it to their first full LP, "Tente Mudar o Amanhã" (1985). Their next album, "Pela Paz em Todo o Mundo" (1986) was turned into a local punk classic (especially due to the title track and "Medo") and also a sales record for independent releases in Brazil: 85 thousand copies. In 1987, Cólera (Cholera) became the first punk band in the country to tour Europe, choosing an alternative punk circuit. In 1989, live recordings were assembled in a live album (in that same year, the band would also release the album "Verde, Não Devaste"). Cólera followed into the 90s putting out the albums "Mundo Mecânico, Mundo Eletrônico" (1992) and "Caos Mental Geral" (1997). In 2000, the band returned to the spotlight when the band Plebe Rude reviewed "Medo" in their live album and punk band Os Inocentes recorded "Quanto Vale a Liberdade" in their album "O Barulho dos Inocentes".
