Danilo Caymmi
07/03/1948
Born into one of the most musical families in Brazil (son of Dorival, brother of Dori and Nana), he started studying the flute and guitar in his teens. During the 60s, he started working as a songwriter and flutist, being placed third on a music festival in 1968 with the future hit-song "Andança" (with Edmundo Souto and Paulinho Tapajós). In the next year, he had the hit "Casaco Marrom (Bye, Bye, Ceci)", written with Guarabira and Renato Correia, on the top of the charts. Dori worked with his family and Edu Lobo, and in 1973, he released an album with his songs. In the 1980s, he joined Tom Jobim's back up band, and by the end of the decade he was hired by a TV network to write music scores for soap-operas. In the 1990s, he recorded four solo CDs.
