Dom Salvador
12/09/1938
His professional debut as a pianist happened at age 12, in Rio Claro (São Paulo) and later moved to the capital, playing nightclubs. In the 60s, Dom moved to Rio de Janeiro, joining Copa Trio, who used to back up Elis Regina, Quarteto em Cy and Jorge Ben. In 1965, he lined-up a new trio, named Trio-65, touring Europe along with Edu Lobo and others. They made an album in Germany. He also performed in the U.S. with Elza Soares. Back to Brazil, Dom recorded with the group Abolição, comprised of black musicians only, and that would be the embryo for the legendary Banda Black Rio. He later settled in the United States.
