Dóris Monteiro
21/10/1934
She became famous at age 15, while singing on a talent show on the radio. She was then hired by the station, remaining for 8 years. She was a crooner at nightclubs. Dóris recorded her debut album, "Se Você se Importasse" (Peterpan), in 1951. Her low-profile style turned her into a pioneering bossa nova artist who recorded the first compositions written by Tom Jobim. Dóris appeared in movies and toured South America, Portugal and Japan. She enjoyed numerous hits along her career, such as "Fecho Meus Olhos, Vejo Você" (José Maria Abreu), "Graças a Deus" (Fernando César), "Mocinho Bonito" (Billy Blanco), "Gostoso É Sambar" (João Melo), "Samba de Verão" (Marcos Valle/ Paulo Sérgio Valle), "Mudando de Conversa" (Maurício Tapajós/ Hermínio B. de Carvalho) and "Dó-ré-mi" (Fernando César). She made four albums with singer Miltinho between 1970 and 1973. From the 1980s on, Dóris quit making records, but kept turing the whole country with her husband, pianist Ricardo Júnior.
