Born in Fortaleza, in the State of Ceará (NE), Lincoln moved to Rio de Janeiro in 1951. He played the double bass at nightclubs and jam sessions. In the 50’s, he worked with 2 legendary Bossa Nova musicians - Luís Eça and Dick Farney. He also played with nightclub bands and recorded with Trio Plaza, the band that played at the Plaza hotel in Rio de Janeiro. At that same period, he also started playing the piano. In the 1060’s, he created a unique style of playing the electric keyboard which had become very popular at parties and balls. Some of his greatest hits include "O Ganso" (by Ed Lincoln and D'Orlann), "O Bêbado" (Durval Ferreira/ Orlandivo), "É o Cid" (by Ed Lincoln and Silvio Cesar), "Palladium" (by Ed Lincoln and Orlandivo), "Na Onda do Berimbau" (Oswaldo Nunes) and "Ai que Saudade Dessa Nega". His arrangement of the song "The Blueswalk", in collaboration with the American trumpeter Clifford Brown, became a popular carnival tune. Lincoln recorded several LPs for Musidisc, a record label for which he worked as music director. Still in the 60´s he released his own label. It was called De Savoya Records. In the 1970’s, he recorded an LP for the record company CID.
