Elton Medeiros nascimento 22/07/1930

Born in Rio de Janeiro, he began writing sambas in his teens. By the late 1940s, he met with Zé Kéti, who became his partner. Later on, he joined Portela and the school's composers group. In the 60s, he became a member of the group A Voz do Morro, recording the albums "Roda de Samba" 1 and 2 and "Os Sambistas". Paulinho da Viola, Jair do Cavaquinho, Zé Kéti and Nescarzinho do Salgueiro were other members of the group. He also recorded with the group Os Cinco Crioulos, with Jair, Nescarzinho, Nelson Sargento and Mauro Duarte. The song "O Sol Nascerá", written with Cartola, was performed by Nara Leão and turned into one of Elton's greatest hits. He recorded the album "Na Madrugada", with Paulinho da Viola in 1966, which featured songs like "Onde a Dor Não Tem Razão", "Recomeçar", "Vida" and "Ame". Medeiros released solo and split albums, such as the historic "Quatro Grandes do Samba", with Candeia, Nelson Cavaquinho and Guilherme de Brito. Among his greatest hits, classics like "Clementina, Cadê Você?", "Mascarada" (with Zé Kéti), "Rosa de Ouro" (with Hermínio Bello de Carvalho and Paulinho da Viola), "Sofreguidão" (with Cartola), "O Sol Nascerá" (with Cartola), "Coração de Ouro" (with J. Santana), "Quatro Crioulos" (with J. Santana), "Pressentimento" (with Hermínio Bello de Carvalho) and "Maioria Sem Nenhum" (with Mauro Duarte). One of his latest albums, "Mais Feliz" (1996), was critically acclaimed. He has also recorded with younger artists like Zé Renato ("A Alegria Continua").
