Fagner
13/10/1949
Born in Ceará (Northeast), he joined different music groups in his teens and started to write songs. He won a festival in 1968 with the song "Nada Sou" (Fagner/Marcus Francisco). He moved to Brasília in 1971 and continued participating in festivals. Still in 1971, he went to Rio de Janeiro and had Elis Regina record his song, "Mucuripe" (with Belchior), which became Fagner's first hit both as a singer and songwriter - he also recorded the track, on a split single with Caetano Veloso doing "Asa Branca". The debut LP, "Manera, Fru-fru, Manera", came out in 1973 and included "Canteiros", one of his greatest hits ever. Later, he wrote the soundtrack of the film "Joana, a Francesa", and traveled to France. Back in Brazil, Fagner released other albums throught the 70s, mixing romantic ballads and northeastern music. Key tracks: "Ave Noturna" (with Cacá Diegues), "Astro Vagabundo" (with Fausto Lindo), "Última Mentira" (with Capinam), "Asa Partida" (with Abel Silva), "Corda de Aço" (with Clodô), "Cavalo Ferro" (with Ricardo Bezerra), "Fracassos", "Revelação" (Clodô/ Clésio) "Pensamento", "Guerreiro Menino" (Gonzaguinha), "Deslizes" (Sullivan/ Massadas) and "Borbulhas de Amor".
