Fellini
The rock group from São Paulo started out in 1984, with a post-punk attitude and enigmatic lyrics. The ironic posture was evident on their debut release, "O Adeus de Fellini" (1985 on Baratos Afins). Members of the avant-garde rock scene from the mid-80s (with bands like Akira S & As Garotas Que Erraram, Voluntários da Pátria and Mercenárias), Fellini pursued the mix of melancholic sambas and rock on their second album, "Fellini Só Vive duas Vezes" (1986), recorded only with Cadão Volpato (vocals) and Thomas Pappon (all instruments) in a home studio. The band would later put out the albums "Três Lugares Diferentes" (1987) and "Amor Louco" (1989), before spliting. Cadão continued with the band Funziona Senza Vapore and Thomas, eventually settled in London, would start the duo The Gilbertos with his wife, releasing the CD "Os Eurosambas 1992-1998". Having strong inlfuence on contemporary pop artists like Chico Science, Fellini regrouped by the late 1990s for occasional live appearances. The band was comprised of Cadão Volpato (vocals & lyrics); Thomas Pappon (bass, drums and piano); Jayr Marcos (electric and acoustic guitars) and Ricardo Salvagni (bass).
