Geraldo Azevedo

Self-taught guitarist from Pernambuco (Northeast Brazil), Geraldo was a member of the group Construção, along with Naná Vasconcelos and members of Quinteto Violado. At age 22, he moved to Rio de Janeiro. He made his first album in 1972, with Alceu Valença. Geraldo's music includes frevo, black music and bossa nova. He has made a few solo albums. In 1996 and '97, he played a series of concerts with Elba Ramalho, Zé Ramalho and Alceu Valença. The shows were turned into the albums "O Grande Encontro" and "O Grande Encontro II".
