Graforréia Xilarmônica

Gaucho rock band lined-up in 1987 with former members of the band Prisão de Ventre, led by vocalist Frank Jorge, who had also played with the Cascavellettes. Graforréia's music is strongly influenced by the jovem guarda (new school) and by the '60s rock, with fun lyrics and bits of southern folk. They enjoyed more visibility in 1988, upon releasing the demo tape "Com Muito Amor e Carinho", which featured hits like "Amigo Punk", "Buda Baby" and "Empregada". The debut CD, "Coisa de Louco II", came out only in 1995 on the label Banguela, which closed down shortly after, damaging the promotion of the disc. Some of the band's greatest hits appear on that album, such as the aforementioned "Amigo Punk" and "Nunca Diga", recorded by the band Pato Fu on the album "Televisão de Cachorro". "Chapinhas de Ouro", the second release, came out in 1998, featuring songs like "Iluminados Monstros do Amor", "Beethoven" and "Eu Gostaria de Matar os Dois". In January 2000, the band played a show in Porto Alegre and, halfway through the set, revealed to the public that they were witnessing Graforréia's final performance.
