Jongo Trio

Vocal and instrumental group assembled in 1965 in São Paulo by pianist Cido Bianchi, bassist Sabá and drummer Toninho. Jongo did the bossa nova circuit, accompanied guitarist Baden Powell and Elis Regina & Jair Rodrigues. Still in 1965, the album "Jongo Trio" came out, featuring tracks like "Feitinha Pro Poeta", "O Menino das Laranjas" (Théo de Barros), "Terra de Ninguém" (Marcos and Paulo Sérgio Valle) and "Seu Chopin, Desculpe" (Johnny Alf). The following year, the Jongo members pursued other projects. With a different line-up - Toninho, Claiber (bass) and Paulo Roberto (piano) - and a new name - Jongo Trio e Companhia - the group would make two more albums, in 1970 and 1972. In 1998, after being out of print for many years, Jongo Trio's debut album came out on CD on the label Mix House.
