Jovelina Pérola Negra
02/11/1998
Jovelina was a late revelation. She debuted in 1985, in the compilation "Raça Brasileira", with two classic pagodes: "Bagaço da Laranja" and "Feirinha da Pavuna". Natural heir to Clementina de Jesus in the dynasty of the great samba divas, she was fundamentally important to bring the backyard pagode to the front row of BPM, along with Zeca Pagodinho, Almir Guineto and the group Fundo de Quintal. She was turned into a star after the debut, and made five albums between 1986 and 1989. Her last release, "Samba Guerreira", came out in 1996. "Amigos Chegados" (Arlindo Cruz/ Luizinho), "Luz do repente" (A. Cruz), "Feirinha da Pavuna", "Bagaço da Laranja" (with Zeca Pagodinho and Arlindo Cruz), "Garota Zona Sul" (Guará) are some of her greatest hits.
