Márcio Montarroyos
Born in Rio de Janeiro, Montarroyos studied piano and classical music before devoting himself to trumpet playing and jazz. In the 70's, Montarroyos went to the U.S. to study jazz at the Berklee School of Music. Back in Brazil, he started performing in concerts and nightclubs, frequently flying to the US to participate in concerts and recordings. Montarroyos has played with Stevie Wonder, Sarah Vaughan, Nancy Wilson, Carlos Santana and Ella Fitzgerald, as well as with several Brazilian artists like Sergio Mendes, Hermeto Pascoal, Egberto Gismonti, Milton Nascimento, Tom Jobim among others. Montarroyos has released five solo albums in Brazil.
