Marina Lima
17/09/1955
Born in Rio de Janeiro, Marina Lima spent most of her childhood and teen years in the United States, where she first got interested in music. In Brazil, her song "Meu Doce Amor" was recorded by Gal Costa in 1977. Two years later, she released her first solo album, "Simples Como Fogo", on which she performed her own songs and songs by Dolores Duran, Caetano Veloso and Angela Rô Rô. Introducing a pop urban aesthetic, with a tinge of rock, her 1984 LP "Fullgás", for Polygram, was a big hit. The album included the tracks "Mesmo que Seja Eu" (Roberto/ Erasmo Carlos) and "Me Chama" (Lobão).
Marina has released 24 albums (including an anthology of her work which was only released in the U.S.). She is regarded as one of the most successful Brazilian pop music stars. Even though Marina has been labeled as a "pop diva", she has also made incursions into other music styles, such as jazz, blues and samba.
Marina's greatest hits include "Pra Começar", "Ainda É Cedo", "À Francesa", "Não Sei Dançar", "Uma Noite e Meia" and "Eu Te Amo Você".
