Milton Banana

Regarded as one of the main bossa nova drummers, Milton Banana started his music career playing in nightclubs in the 50's. He played with Luís Eça's band and, in 1959, MIlton played the drums on João Gilberto's album "Chega de Saudade" (Tom Jobim/ Vinicius de Moraes). He performed with Tom Jobim and João Gilberto several times and, in 1962, participated in the Bossa Nova Festival at the Carnegie Hall, in New York. In 1963, Milton also played in the classic recording of the João Gilberto and Stan Getz’s bossa nova album. In that same period, Milton toured with João Donato and Tião Neto round Europe.
In the 70's, he founded the Milton Banana Trio, releasing 8 hit albums. In the 90's, Milton’s rhythmic swing became quite popular among British acid jazz fans.
