MPB-4
One of the longest lasting male vocal groups in Brazilian music, its members began singing together in Rio de Janeiro, in 1962, first as a trio, with Ruy, Aquiles and Miltinho, and then as a quartet, as keyboardist and arranger Magro joined in. Their first performances happened in colleges. The name MPB-4 was adopted in 1964, and they made their first single that same year. They participated in a number of collective concerts in the 60s, being very active in festivals and quickly enjoying success with songs like "Roda Viva" (Chico Buarque). MPB-4 was connected to Chico Buarque from the very beginning. Many of Chico's songs became very successful as interpreted by the group, like "Ela Desatinou", "Benvinda" and "Partido Alto". They went through the 70s and 80s recording sambas, mainly, and making LPs regularly. In the 90s, they remained faithful to their repertoire of Brazilian music and kept touring Brazil and abroad.
