mundo livre s/a

Founded in 1984, the group only got national projection 10 years later, when the mangue beat movement emerged in Pernambuco (NE). Their first CD, "Samba Esquema Noise" (1994), was acclaimed by critics and audiences, who perceived Mundo Livre’s music as something new, thanks to the mix of samba, samplers and heavy guitars. They started playing live, many times sharing the stage with Chico Science & Nação Zumbi - the main mangue beat band. After Chico Science’s premature death, Mundo Livre became the number one mangue-beat band, especially after their third album, "Carnaval na Obra", from 1998. In 2000, upon the release of their fourth disc, "Por Pouco", the group adopted an original marketing strategy, hiring professional models to represent the band members in photo sessions.
