Novos Baianos
The group was lined up in the 60s, in Bahia, and debuted in the show "Desembarque dos Bichos Depois do Dilúvio Universal" (1968). They participated in a BPM festival and put out their first album, "É Ferro na Boneca", in 1969. In 1971, The band moved to Rio de Janeiro, and they all went to live together in a penthouse. By that time, singer/songwriter João Gilberto would spend time with the group, definitively influencing their musical concept and inducing the switch from rock to BPM. The following year, they moved to a farmhouse, living in a community, and releasing the album "Acabou Chorare", a groundbreaking mix of rock, samba, frevo and choro that would influence performers, songwriters and bands in the years to come. Novos Baianos broke up in 1978, and most of the members went out for solo careers. In 1997, songwriter Galvão wrote the book "Anos 70: Novos e Baianos".
