Paulo Ricardo

He was born in Rio de Janeiro and grew up listening to bossa nova and Jovem Guarda. Paulo was interested in music since childhood, having studied piano in his teens. He moved to São Paulo in 1977, playing the drums with a band and then learning to play the guitar. He lined-up the group Prisma and later the group Aura, in the 80s, pursuing porgressive rock and new wave. After studying to be a journalist, he spent some time in London (between 1982 and 83), writing for a music magazine. Back in Brazil, he lined-up the band RPM, debuting in 1984. After a few shows, they recorded a live album and became one of the greatest phenomena in Brazilian rock, selling 2.5 million albums. Paulo Ricardo left RPM in 1989, recording a solo album that same year. In the 90s, he made an album with covers of rock classics from the 80s and the CD "A Cruz e a Espada".
