Raimundos
Founded in the 90's in Brasília (DC), this band introduced a mixture of hardcore elements with Brazilian northeastern beats that has been inappropriately labeled as "forró-core". The band's members started playing together because they were fans of the Ramones, playing covers of their songs. Raimudos played at parties and bars, and after a relative local success, they split up and took up on different activities.
In 1992, the band was invited to play together again in Goiânia (capital of Goiás, CW). The group reunited and recorded a demo tape, which was distributed to the radio stations, producers and record companies. Raimundos played more shows and college festivals, singing up a deal with the label Banguela (from São Paulo, distributed by Warner Music) in 1994. Their first album, "Raimundos", received a Gold Record and included some of the band's greatest hits: "Nega Jurema", "Selim", "Putero em João Pessoa". With their second release, "Lavô Tá Novo", the group’s fame increased, as they withdrew a little more from the northeastern influences. Their latest CD is called "Só nos Forevis".
