Ritchie
06/03/1952
Ritchie was born in England and lived in different countries because his dad was in the army. He met with a group of Brazilians in London, in 1972, including a few Mutantes members who talked him into traveling to Brazil. He first settled in São Paulo, but moved to Rio in 1973, and started teaching English to musicians like Paulo Moura, Egberto Gismonti and Gal Costa. Ritchie played with different bands as a flutist and vocalist for two years before taking up the vocals with the group Vímana, with Lobão, Lulu Santos, Luiz Simas and Fernando Gama. They recorded a single. The band soon split up and most of its members pursued solo careers. Ritchie found success in 1983 with his debut solo disc, "Vôo de Coração", touring around the country. After being turned into a pop idol, Ritchie did not repeat the feat, recording more albums whilst never enjoying that much success again. Nowadays he produces home pages and is making an album in English.
