Secos e Molhados
A vocal and instrumental group founded in the early 70’s in São Paulo, Secos e Molhados made their first album in 1973, generating a lot of polemic because of their new and daring attitude. The record sold 300,000 copies, a true feat for an unknown band. In the following year, Secos & Molhados toured Brazil, performing sold out concerts in theaters and arenas. In 1974, the group recorded another LP, but their singer, Ney Matogrosso, and composer/vocalist João Ricardo left the band to pursue solo careers. The group was reunited on several occasions, always with different members. Some of the group’s greatest hits from their early days include "Sangue Latino" (João Ricardo/ Paulo Mendonça), "O Vira" (J. Ricardo/ Luli), "Rosa de Hiroshima" (Gerson Conrad/ Vinicius de Moraes), "Flores Astrais" (J. Ricardo/ J. Apolinário) and "Tercer Mundo" (J. Ricardo/ Julio Cortázar).
