Simone
25/12/1949
Daughter of an opera singer and a pianist, Simone was born in Salvador (BAhia) and moved to São Paulo at age 16, where she was a basket ball athlete. In the 70s, she took a test at Odeon and soon signed up a deal, making her debut album, "Simone". She toured Europe and USA. Simone recorded the follow-up album, "Quatro Paredes", in 1974. Her first radio hits were "Jura Secreta" (Sueli Costa/Abel Silva) and "Face a Face" (Sueli Costa/Cacaso). In 1978, she enjoyed prestige and success with the album "Cigarra". In 1979, her big moment came with the song "Começar de Novo" (Ivan Lins/Vitor Martins). She was the first artist to re-record Geraldo Vandré's anti-military anthem, "Pra Não Dizer que Não Falei das Flores". In 1981, she signed up to CBS (currently Sony Msic). Other big hits followed: "Alma" (Sueli Costa/ Abel Silva), "Tô que Tô" (Kleiton/ Kledir), "Um desejo Só Não Basta" (Francisco Casaverde/ Fausto Nilo), "Você É Real" and "Iolanda" (Pablo Milanéz/ Chico Buarque). She puts out albums and tours around Brazil, Europe and USA regularly.
