Trio Esperança
Vocal group founded in the late 50’s by siblings Regina, Mário and Evinha Correia José Maria, in Rio de Janeiro. Trio Esperança started performing professionally in 1961 and recorded the songs "Menino do Amendoim" and "Rock do Espirro" for the record label Odeon, when the singers were 15, 13 and 10 years old, respectively. Their first big hit was "Filme Triste", a Brazilian version of "Sad Movies". Then came their first LP, "Nós Somos o Sucesso", released in 1963, which featured some of the group’s most popular songs, such as "Bolinha de Sabão". In the late 60’s, Evinha left the group to pursue a solo career and her sister Marisa joined the group. With its new formation, Trio Esperança released other albums.
Some of the group’s most successful albums ("Três Vezes Sucesso" and "Festa do Bolinha") were released on CD in 1997 by EMI.
