Zeca Baleiro
Born in Maranhão (Northeast), Zeca became known in the rest of the country when he appeared on an MTV special with Gal Costa. In 1997, his debut album, "Por Onde Andará Stephen Fry?" attracted the critics, who labeled him a "neotropicalist". The following year, he got one Best Album and one Best Song (for "Bandeira") awards, curiously, both in the pop-rock category. He performed in France in 1999 and released his album in Europe. Zeca's second CD, "Vô Imbolá", features guest appearances by Zeca Pagodinho, Zé Ramalho and others. His third album, "Líricas", was released in 2000.
