Zimbo Trio
Formed in 1964 in São Paulo, Zimbo Trio was one of the groups that had great influence upon other musicians in matters relating to the manner in which to accompany Brazilian music. The trio is an exponent of the bossa nova from São Paulo, leaning on Amilton Godoy’s erudite touch on the piano. Following their debut on a Norma Bengel show produced by Aloysio de Oliveira, they spent the latter half of the 60’s touring Latin America and Europe. In 1965, they were hired to perform regularly on the TV show O Fino da Bossa, produced by Elis Regina and Jair Rodrigues. Since 1973 the trio has been in charge of the Clam - Centro Livre de Aprendizagem Musical - [Free Center for Musical Studies], an entity dedicated to the teaching of a wide spectrum of musical styles, with no separation between erudite and popular. With a career spanning 35 years, and more than 40 discs recorded - including guest appearances -, Zimbo Trio’s line-up has remained unchanged since its original launch in 1964.
