BIS CANTORES DO RÁDIO - CARMEN COSTA
Carmen Costa (2000)
Crítica
Cotação:
Carmen Costa started out as a backing vocalist on albums by illustrious artists like Francisco Alves (for whom she once worked as a maid), but after pairing up with songwriter Henricão, her career took off. There was a funny mishap in the meantime, though. Carmen claims to have lost her soprano voice and started singing in lower keys after a flood (!) in Rio de Janeiro, in the turn of the ‘40s to the ‘50s – but she never explained how the magic happened. Tales apart, the fact is that, thanks to the "new voice", more informal and diseuse, Carmen achieved the height of her career with classics like Eu Sou a Outra, Quase and Obsessão. This style of singing, as if she were in a conversation, feels like she’s telling secrets to the listener.
