BIS CANTORES DO RÁDIO - DIRCINHA BATISTA
Dircinha Batista (2000)
Crítica
Cotação:
This is the first time that a major label releases a Dyrcinha Batista CD. She was extremely popular in the 1940s and '50s. The compilation features 28 tracks, with loads of sambas written by the likes of Lupicínio Rodrigues, Marino Pinto, Wilson Batista, Nássara, Vicente Paiva, Custódio Mesquita, J. Cascata, Benedito Lacerda, David Nasser, Garoto, Dunga, Haroldo Lobo, Ary Barroso, Klecius Caldas, Armando Cavalcanti, Pedro Caetano, Roberto Martins, Geraldo Medeiros... the best songwriters from the first half of the 20th century. Most of the recordings here are from the 1940s, when her career was peaking.
Key tracks: Nunca, Vulto, Adeus, Inimigo do Batente, Não Chora, Violão que Chora and O Sanfoneiro Só Tocava Isso, Periquitinho Verde, Upa! Upa! (Meu Trolinho), A Coroa do Rei, O Primeiro Clarim. Beautiful portrait of the forgotten MPB diva, who once was rich and famous, but died insane and poor, committed to a mental hospital because she couldn't stand the oblivion she fell into.
