BIS CANTORES DO RÁDIO - IVON CURI
Ivon Curi (2000)
Crítica
Cotação:
Ivon Cury was one of the most intriguing and original characters in MPB. He started out following the steps of chansonier Jean Sablon, and embraced Brazilian rhythms (xote, baião) in the '50s. Ivon was like a clown, making funny faces and using different intonations. As a showman, he used to tour a lot. Sometimes Ivon sounds tacky, sometimes chic, sometimes fun and even emotional. Unfortunately, the CD Bis Cantores do Rádio does not feature original recordings of his hits, which belong to RCA (currently BMG). Many of his big hits (Farinhada, João Bobo, Comida de Pensão, Xote Miudinho, O Xote das Meninas, Baião das Velhas Cantigas and Retrato de Maria) appear in weak versions (from the 1970's), with outdated arrangements. Still, it is possible to picture his unmistakable style. Besides the hits, this compilation presents curious tracks like Tudo Que é Bom Engorda (Monsueto), Taí no Que Dá (Luiz Vieira), O Chato (Ivon/ Paulo Gesta), Casar É Bom (Ivon/ Mário Meira Guimarães) and O Felizardo (Vicente Celestino). Hopefully, BMG will release his best albums soon.
