Cotação:

The title (Bahia of the World - Myth and Truth) sounds like that of a BA paper and has nothing to do with the pop mix offered by sniper Carlinhos Brown in his third album. If compared to the previous, Omelete Man (1988) - which sold only 30 thousand copies, as opposed to his debut, Alfagamabetizado (1996, 135 thousand copies) - there are two basic differences. Bahia do Mundo is more focused than Omelete Man, which is so multi-faceted that it sounds like it was made by various artists, and not just one. Therefore, it is poorer than the one that came before.

Still, the energetic plant CB keeps producing uncontrollably creative lightning strikes, starting with the opening reggae Pegadas na Areia (tested during the water bottle attack suffered by the musician during his performance at the Rock In Rio fest), the funk/timbalada Crendice and the fast Mil Verões. Carlinhos uses words as percussion, and is more interested in what they sound like than in their meaning.

His combination of northeastern Brazilian rhythms and Arab music in Cearabe is very clever, as well as Cavalo da Simpatia. Horário de Verão and Trabalhador de Carnaval, with loads of drums and brass sections, attest that the pulsating interface is the best gathering of ideas also known as Carlinhos Brown.
