Cotação:
Roots samba. Born in Rio de Janeiro in 1949, Claudio Jorge (de Barros) was a Beatles fan, once, but one can hardly tell. The sophistication of bossa nova can be noticed on tracks like Samba Pro Luizão Maia, where Claudio is accompanied by Leny Andrade (vocals) Fernando Merlino (piano), Dirceu Leite (flute), Roberto Marques (trombone), Humberto Araújo (sax), and others.
But that track is an exception, as is the maxixe Coco Sacudido, which had been recorded by Roberto Ribeiro. The rest of the repertoire is comprised of sambas that fuse elaboration and simplicity: Amor de Fato, E o Vento Levou, O Que é Carnaval, Novos Tempos e Solidariedade Humana and Panela na Pia are good examples.
