Cotação:
After Dominguinhos, nobody had come up to project the baião nationally with the same amounts of simplicity and competence displayed by the accordionist. Therefore, Targino is on the right track. He released four independent albums between 1996 and 2000, and has enjoyed enormous success with the song Esperando na Janela, recorded by Gilberto Gil, whose label Geléia Geral decided to invest in Gondim, discovered during the shooting of the film Me You Them (Andrucha Waddington). Dance Forró Mais Eu features roots-forró (also known as pé-de-serra) and a number of excellent tracks. Pra se Aninhar and Qui Nem Brasa (both by Targino, the first was recorded by Elba Ramalho on the CD Cirandeira), a version of Zeca Pagodinho's hit Verdade, Cidadão Comum, Coitado de Eu, Carrapeta de Batom and Aniversário de São João (a rare unpretentious moment in Carlinhos Brown's music) are among the best tracks. The disc is better than the avarage, nicely produced by Roberto Sant'ana.
