Founder of the pioneering samba school Deixa Falar, Ismael Silva (1905-1978) was directly responsible for the development of the style. This album was originally released in 1957. Ismael's vocal limitations are clear and testified by the presence of a choir, but compositions like Amar, Agradeças a Mim, Arrependido, Não Há or Ao Romper da Aurora (written with Lamartine Babo) compensate the flaw. The album has been remastered, but the mixing is unbalanced, causing the percussion to be loud most of the time. (Nana Vaz de Castro)
