Cotação:

Guitarist Maria do Céu, formerly a student with Turíbio Santos, headed for the northeastern state of Ceará in search of inspiration for her debut CD. The repertoire of Choros do Ceará is entirely dedicated to the music of Francisco Soares de Souza (1905-1986). Chico Soares, as he was better known, recorded a single LP in his life, Recital no Clube do Violão, in 1961. On this album, Maria is accompanied by Rodrigo Sebastian (bass guitar) and Di Lutgardes (percussion) on 11 out of the 12 tracks, which ends up homogenizing the disc a bit too much. The exception is Jane, a waltz, where the guitarist appears alone. Her punch is clear and powerful, so it's a shame that other instruments will cover up hers all the time. Caboré 2, Samburá and Aquário are key tracks.

The disc is independent and can only be purchased at maria.dc@brfree.com.br .
