BARQUINHO

One more proof that bossa nove did not appear from day to night, nor was it made in one day. This album was recorded in 1960, and features elements from the previous scene (samba-tunes) - Maysa's standards Ouça and Meu Mundo Caiu - but also anticipates future changes like the emrgence of the revolutionary Tamba Trio, the band that accompanies her in this disc. The former jet-setter lends her deep, emotive voice to gems like O Barquinho, Errinho à Toa (both written by Roberto Menescal and Ronaldo Bôscoli), Recado à Solidão (Chico Feitosa), Você e Eu (Carlos Lyra/ Vinicius de Moraes) and Cala Meu Amor (Tom Jobim/Vinicius de Moraes).
