PARA GERSHWIN E JOBIM - 2 KITES
/ Tom Jobim (2000)

Cotação:
This is the second volume of the project that brings together the works of George Gershwin (1989-1937) and Tom Jobim (1927-1994) - the first had come out in 1997, recorded by Mario Adnet. If the first volume boasted a bi-national atmosphere due to the presence of American jazz musicians like Eddie Gomez and Randy Brecker (flugelhorn) and Brazilian musicians settled in the USA like Romero Lubambo (acoustic guitar), Nilson Matta (bass) and Duduka Fonseca (drums), the new one is more local, featuring Jobim's son, Paulo, the producer's daughter Joana Adnet and singer Joyce performing Desafinada. Samba do Avião serves as introduction for Rhapsody in Blue. Surfboard, the choro Bate Boca, the march Two Kites and the gloomy Valsa do Porto das Caixas are some of the highlights. But Not For Me, Someone to Watch Over Me and Fascinating Rhythm appear with a syncopated bossa approach. Adnet also explores new combinations on Xotistrote, Acho Que Vai Ficar Bom and Na Mesma Direção.
