Alaíde Costa
08/12/1935
She started out performing at shows for children on the radio. In 1957, Alaíde recorded her debut album, "Tarde Demais", on Odeon. Two years later, João Gilberto introduced her to the bossa nova, and she recorded and participated in shows. Costa faced health problems, and remained unrelated to the business from 1966 until 1972, when she resumed recording, releasing a number of singles and LPs with music written by Milton Nascimento, Paulinho da Viola, Carlos Lyra, Vinicius de Moraes and others. Her recording of "Me Deixa em Paz" (Monsueto/A.Amorim) with Milton Nascimento on the album "Clube da Esquina" helped her make a comeback. In 1988, Alaíde released "Amiga de Verdade". In 1994, she released a live CD, recorded with pianist João Carlos Assis Brasil.
